Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world and a vast majority of the population lives in the rural areas. The overall development of the country depends on the infrastructure development in the rural areas. Towards that end rural development aims at increasing socio-economic development of the rural people through construction of rural infrastructures including roads, bridges/culverts connecting the business centers, growth centers, union parisad, upazila headquarters and health complex etc. The proposed project is located at Kishoreganj district covered of 13 Upazila (Karimganj, Nikli, Itna, Sadar, Hossainpur, Austagram, Mithamoin, Bhairab, Tarail, Katiadi, Pakundia, Kuliarchar, Bajitpur). In the context of the above circumstances there is a great demand for construction of proposed infrastructure from local elites and public representatives. It is expecting that the implementation of the proposed project will generate employment opportunities.
The Project “Important Rural Infrastructure Development Project in Kishoreganj District” was discussed in the Project Security Committee meeting held on 06-04-2015 in the LocalGovernment Division. According to the decisions of the Project Security Committee the DPP was recast for approval and submitted for necessary action.Thereafter a Project Evaluation Committee (PEC) meeting was held on 03-01-2016the Planning Commission over the project and the project was recommended forapproval with some decisions (Minutes of the PEC meeting is enclosed atAppendix-H of page 62-65). According to the decision of PEC held on 03-01-2016,the 2nd PEC meeting was held on 06-03-2016 (Minutes of the 2nd PECmeeting is enclosed at Appendix-I of page 66-71). The DPP has now been recaston the basis of the decisions taken in the 2nd PEC meeting.
